My Thoughts Exactly
Apparently, they've reduced the value placed on a human life when calculating environmental impact to $0. There are a lot of things that disgust me about our current administration and its decisions. This is just one of them. You don't like the $11.7 million VSL? Great, ratchet it down a bit. But taking it to zero? That's quite a statement.
The first booth I ever had at an NAR conference was the last booth I ever wanted to have. We had just introduced real estate shows. It was a brand new kind of virtual tour. For the time, it was advanced technology. We were excited about the prospect of showing it to REALTORS® as they made their way around the conference.
Unfortunately, we were right next to a booth selling scarves. The line of people looking at and buying scarves stretched in front of our booth, obscuring our visibility to anyone who might be interested in this brand-new virtual tour technology. That was the last time we ever had a booth.
"You can believe in the transformative power of AI and still recognize that many of the decisions being made are driven by reflexivity. And when reflexive bubbles unwind, it’s not just asset prices that fall. So do reputations built on temporary expertise."
It's why I talk about what I know... human behavior. I've always operated, written, and stood on stages at the intersection of human behavior and technology. When the technology changes, the intersection changes. I always want to play in the intersection.
I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and I believe I'm ready to write about it in more detail. Whether something is written by AI fully, partially, or entirely by a human, really isn't the question anymore.
The question is trust. What can we trust, who can we trust, and how is trust even formed?
I think this article's 40% estimate is too low. That said, one of the best uses of AI I've found is summarizing terms and conditions and privacy policies and pointing out areas of potential concern.
