My Thoughts Exactly
Is there anyone in the world who is surprised that students are using smart glasses to cheat on their exams? This is the most predictable outcome of AI glasses ever.
It's interesting to see what Slack has been doing with AI over the past couple of years. We do a lot of integration from various systems at Tangilla into Slack, but we've not automated anything back into those environments from Slack yet.
The headline of this article is what caught my attention. What impressed me, though, was that this research is being done specifically to try and figure out ways to keep organs alive longer for transplant purposes. Your mind can't help but wander to what else might come from this, however. We live in incredibly interesting times.
My kids weren't allowed to have smartphones until they were in high school. They weren't allowed to have social media accounts either. Did they sneak around it? Sure, a couple of them did and were caught. It would have been so much easier if the social media companies had been forced to implement their own protections. So, yeah, I'm 100% in favor of under-16 social media bans. And under-14 bans as well.
If I had a choice, I would choose Waymo over a human driver every time. If I'm in Phoenix, for example, I will use the Waymo app exclusively. Despite the growing pains. I find the experience more enjoyable, and it's not just the novelty. The ride also just "feels" safer.
And here's the thing: if I could rent a share in a self-driving car, commit to a set amount of use time, and do away with owning a car, I would in a heartbeat. The car I won sits idle 90% of the time. A car that can drive itself to me when I need it and drive itself away when I don't would be perfect.
I've known Glenn Shimkus, the Co-founder and CEO at Prisidio for a long time. We're not close, but we're acquainted. I've been watching what he's built at Prisidio over the course of the last few years, and have been meaning to check it out for myself and my family as an important document solution. This is one of those Just Dug Up posts that is designed to be a reminder for myself. But I'm betting if you're reading this, it's probably something for you to check out as well.
