In reviewing some of the information from the Orange County Wordcamp today, this plugin jumped out at me. It’s from the gang at WPVibe and it’s called Tweeted. It inserts a single tweet into your WordPress posts, like this:
[tweeted]http://twitter.com/wpvibe/statuses/12774499044[/tweeted]
I had reviewed a similar plugin a while back, but it didn’t save the tweet data in the post meta like this one does. So, it was a bit flaky. The method Tweeted is using should eliminate that flakiness entirely. I often find myself wanting to quote a Tweet in a post, and this makes giving all the proper credits simple. Just put the link to the tweet in inside the Tweeted short code brackets and you’re done.
Oh, and you can put more than one in a post.

If you know CSS, you can customize it’s look as well, and it comes with two standard styles, light and dark. I’m using the dark style here. It does have one shortcoming, in my opinion. It doesn’t make the links inside the tweets active. But other than that, I like it.

Thanks for giving it a try! Any feedback, we’re more than listening for it.
Hope you enjoy the plugin
Oh sorry missed the feedback about active links — we’re aware of that issue and are working on updating it soon.
thanks!
Jonathan, I’ll probably do a slightly different post about it over on Zeek.com.
Jonathan, I think your methodology is superior to what Twitter released today.
Thank you
There’s definitely a need for it, but it’s really hard for Twitter to hit every platform and they had to rush something out the door that would work universally. Our solution is definitely better for WordPress specific sites, so thank you for your kind words
We’re going to continue development of the plugin, despite the release of Twitter’s official embed.
Thanks Jeff, I was on the fence on this one! Why can’t they make the links “Live” though? C&P is archaic
